Visit Backing Blair Backing Blair admits lying so protest cancelled

With a heavy heart, I have to share with you an e-mail from Clive Summerfield, who is one of the Backing Blair webmasters. It makes it clear Backing Blair lied and I have no choice but to pull out of the Fasthosts protest and offer Fasthosts a full apology.

I now understand why the Backing Blair took this position on the Denial of Service attack:

"Please do not upset the web host who conspired with our enemies to bring down our website"

Anybody else would have sacked such a host. However, the web host was innocent.

This comes after Tim Ireland refused to publish, or to allow me to publish, the e-mail in which Fasthosts report a complaint. Read here how he led me to believe I could have the e-mail for £500. I agreed because such an e-mail would prove the Labour Party was censoring the internet through intimidation. Such a story would be dynamite, but I no longer believe such an e-mail exists. Tim Ireland lied and has brought shame, not just on himself, but on all Conservative Party supporters.

The Backing Blair team have proved themselves to be no more trustworthy than Tony Blair. They believe that a much needed Conservative victory at the next election can only be achieved by lying to voters. I can no longer be part of that.

Clive Summerfield e-mail:

  1. Admits that Backing Blair did not have unlimited bandwidth as claimed here: "our service is supposed to include unlimited bandwidth".
  2. Admits that Backing Blair used excessive bandwidth
  3. Asks me not to upset the web host Backing Blair claimed conspired with its enemies.

The e-mail:

FastHosts do indeed make no bandwidth restrictions, but there is a clause in their Ts and Cs for excessive use, and 250,000 hits on a 728Kb file in 2 weeks is a hell of a lot of bandwidth. Furthermore, as I pointed out at BackingBlair, the mention of copyright violation doesn't make reference to a specific complaint, so could well be just someone being overzealous in their abuse department rather than anything malicious. This could be supported by the fact that any reference to copyright was subsequently dropped.

The interesting thing was the timing, in that the flash file had been up on the server for 2 weeks, yet the site didn't get dropped until 4 days after BB went live. But sometimes a coincidence is just that. Now we're pretty happy with the way things are running at the moment, and I personally think your campaign - while well intentioned - may actually result in more aggravation for Backing Blair. If Fasthosts decide that it's going to cause them problems of this nature then they may well asked for the whole site to be moved. Were it to happen again, then I'd more more inclined to action, but not for a single incident which may well prove to be a one-off.

So could I please ask that you direct your support and energies into the Backing Blair campaign rather than at the hosting provider who, at the end of the day, may be guilty of nothing more than a lack of responsiveness.

Kind regards

Clive clives@batchtarget.com

You seem to have got a tad confused about absolutely everything to do with that whole Backing Blair lark.

Whether your confusion is deliberate (trying first to associate them with direct action protests which they explicitly denounced, then to link them to the Conservative party) or due to an inability to read what they've actually said, it's probably just as well that you're giving up...

1. 'Jim Doyle' has been in possession of this email since the 17th of Feb, but still chose to push his 'campaign' and frame his 'arguments' in a way that had us and Fasthosts directly pitted against each other in a way that definitely made one of use liars. All assertions that "either Backing Blair of Fasthosts must have lied" have come from 'Jim Doyle' and 'Jim Doyle' alone .

2. We did not lead 'Jim Doyle' to believe he could "have the e-mail for £500" - this was his suggestion and his suggestion alone. We merely called him on his bluff by assuring him that this kind of process *might* start (but probably wouldn't continue) with him revealing his real name. Needless to say, he declined.

3. "Tim Ireland lied and has brought shame, not just on himself, but on all Conservative Party supporters."

Bwahahahahahahaha!

The icing on the cake. You don't need to be a genius to see what 'Jim' is up to here. BB is not a pro-Tory site, and his suggestion here that we are shows that he has - yet again - overplayed his hand.

'Defend Backing Blair' is - and always has been - nothing but a poorly-disguised attempt to discredit the Backing Blair campaign.

The only liar here is the man or woman posing as 'Jim Doyle'.

My only error was to belive Backing Blair and Tim Ireland when they very clearly stated that their website had suffered a DoS attack.

Fasthosts told the Register here: that there was no DoS.

Either Fasthosts lied or Tim Ireland lied. It's now clear that the liar is Tim Ireland.

Jim, or Steve, or whatever your name is... it's over. You've been trackback/comment-spamming these ridiculous assertions of yours to a number of sites for weeks now, and nobody believes you.

Take the hint.

12:59 pm

Blogger Jim Doyle said...

You've had opportunity to prove I'm being ridiculous. I agreed to pay £500 to an escrow of your choosing (but subject to my approval) and to prove my identity to that escrow.

Details here. Offer remains on the table. How much easier could it be to prove you are not a liar?

1:14 pm

Blogger Backing Blair said...

And the answer to this idea of yours has always been 'no'... but it's worth noting how this particular silly idea of yours came about.

You claimed to be our 'biggest fan' and we asked you to prove it by matching or bettering the largest donation to date (which was £500).

You clearly have the money. How much easier could it be to prove *you* are not a liar?

But no, you declined and came up with this bribe idea instead.

You're a liar. And a troll.

Jim, Steve, or whoever you are today:

"Anybody else would have sacked such a host."

You don't simply move a site such as BackingBlair overnight. And given that you were never a member of the team, you weren't party to any of the discussions, debates and investigations regarding hosting. You know nothing.

But let's continue anyway.

First this...

"Admits that Backing Blair did not have unlimited bandwidth as claimed here: "our service is supposed to include unlimited bandwidth"."

and then...

"FastHosts do indeed make no bandwidth restrictions"

You can't have it both ways. Actually, if you fancy a challenge, get a clear concise definition of "excessive use of resources" from Fasthosts.

And that email you so delightfully published makes use of wording such as "could well be", "could be", "may well", etc.

But the best bit is...

"They believe that a much needed Conservative victory at the next election can only be achieved by lying to voters. I can no longer be part of that."

a. The campaign has nothing to do with returning a Conservative victory. Never did. And if you think a Conservative victory is much needed then you're even more deluded than we first thought.

b. You were never a part of the campaign. Never.

Blogger Jim Doyle said...

The only lie you have accused me of is not being Jim Doyle. That is very silly, because I am Jim Doyle.

I have offered to prove who I am to the escrow of your choosing.

Fasthosts say there was no DoS. You say there was, but you won't sack Fasthosts.

Who is lying you or Fasthosts?I've still got £500 with your name on it. Claim your prize.

1:29 pm

Blogger Backing Blair said...

'Jim'... (ah, what the heck... let's do start calling you 'Steve' full-time, just for kicks)...

We have caught you lying on multiple occasions, but you always ignore every valid point we bring up and keep going back to your central lie. This is the mark of a determined troll. Which is what you are.

1:49 pm

Blogger Jim Doyle said...

Why don't you list the lies you allege I have made?

I have offered to prove that I am Jim Doyle (I am certainly not "Steve"). If you do not belive me, call my bluff. I have offered to send a cheque for £500 with my name on it to the escrow of your choosing as soon as they confirm receipt of the Fasthosts communication that says the site was taken down after a complaint.

Fasthosts say you are a liar. Whu don't you sack them?

Pardon the delay. I expect trickery from trolls, so I will present you with one lie and one lie only as you request... but I will make it your biggest lie.

You claim to have been acting in our interests all along - that you have been our 'No.1 Fan' - when in fact this whole thing has been designed to discredit us since the very beginning.

I was incensed when I read that Backing Blair had suffered a DoS attack that you suspected had come from Labour Party HQ. However, I believed that exposing such a thing could be to Blair what the Swift Boat Veterans were to Kerry.

I could not understand why you were not making more of it yourself.

I could not understand why you remained with Fasthosts, even though you believed that they had conspired in the DoS.

However, with a heavy heart, I have come to realise that you did not suffer a DoS at all. The only right thing for me to do is apologise to Fasthosts on this blog. That I have done.

I still believe that Blair must go. However, I cannot endorse lying as a means to unseat him. Lying is what the left does.

2:52 pm

Blogger Backing Blair said...

"However, with a heavy heart, I have come to realise that you did not suffer a DoS at all."

And exactly *when* did you come to 'realise' this, Stephen?

Blogger Jim Doyle said...

You have yet to prove I am not who I say I am. If you prove I am "Stephen" or anybody else I will delete this blog. The mechanism is in place for you to do that.

Shortly after you refused £500 for the e-mail in which Fasthosts say a complaint led them to take down the website. There is not reason in the world not to publish and it is political dynamite. It would prove the Labour Party had censored the internet. I now realise that the e-mail does not exist and you lied. I left all this in disgust, but remembered today would have been the protest. The only honourable thing to do was apologise here to Fasthosts and explain why.

Prove one lie on my part and I will delete this blog.

Blogger Backing Blair said...

"Fasthosts say a complaint led them to take down the website. There is not reason in the world not to publish and it is political dynamite. It would prove the Labour Party had censored the internet."

Fasthosts saying a complaint led them to take down the website would prove no such thing.

There's one lie, right there. And one you have repeated many times.

(waits for deletion)

3:30 pm

Blogger Jim Doyle said...

How inept of you.

Backing Blair said: "The attack came in the form of an illegitimate copyright violation complaint"
Backing Blair said: "We now know the complaint was illegitimate"

The Register said: "the conspiracy isn't true, with Fasthosts assuring us that there was no complaint by anyone"

Fasthosts said Backing Blair lied and The Register believed them.Publishing the e-mail would prove that Backing Blair had not lied.

If the e-mail is not as important as you say, prove it. Forward it to me with full headers and I will delete this blog.

3:46 pm

Blogger Backing Blair said...

And when we said this, we also said: "Many already hold the suspicion that the attack came from Labour HQ. We cannot confirm this at this stage."

It is you who and you alone who - throughout this silly 'campaign' - has been insisting that the Labour Party 'must' be involved. You even sent an email to our ISP claiming that we thought that the Labour Party was behind this. When we made no such assertion.

Another lie.

"Prove one lie on my part and I will delete this blog."

I just did. Twice.

"If the e-mail is not as important as you say, prove it. Forward it to me with full headers and I will delete this blog."

Ah, I see. You've changed your mind about that now, have you?

3:58 pm

Blogger Jim Doyle said...

I have not changed my mind about the importance of the e-mail. I ask you to prove it is not as important as I believe it to be.

You say: "Many already hold the suspicion that the attack came from Labour HQ. We cannot confirm this at this stage." You then go to list reasons to believe it was Labour. That is a clear assertion that the Labour Party was behind it. The Register also read your post as an assertion that it was the Labour Party and name the link to your site "It was Labour!". Your clear intention was to promote the idea that Labour was behind the alleged DoS.

Just make this clear: Are you saying you do not believe the Labour Party was behind the alleged DoS?Please provide the URL where I say the alleged DoS "must" have come from the Labour Party. This is what I said to your ISP regarding the complaint: "If it came from the Labour Party you should confirm this"

4:28 pm

Blogger Backing Blair said...

Another lie!

Us promoting the idea or suggesting it was Labour is:
1. a matter for debate
2. regardless of the outcome of that debate, it's still a far cry from an assertion or accusation

The only 'clear assertion' that we thought or claimed this DoS came from Labour came from you. Time and again.

'Jim Doyle' says: "Somebody (Backing Blair believes that somebody to be based at Labour Party HQ and has traced IP addresses to there, so they are watching) complained about the website and Fasthosts took it down"'Jim Doyle' says: "The fact remains that last weekend, Backing Blair suffered a Denial of Service attack and has evidence that the attack came from Labour Party HQ. (They explain it all here). In short the Labour Party is acting to censor the web in the run up to the election!"'Jim Doyle' says: "I will buy the correspondence from Fasthosts that explains the site was pulled because somebody complained for that amount.I will then disseminate that widely as it will prove that New Labour is censoring the web by intimidation as you originally told the world."That's *not* what *we* told the world - that's what *you* told the world.

And you said to our ISP in one of many belligerent emails that: "Backing Blair, a site you host, say that you received a complaint (they think from the Labour Party) that led you to take down their website."Lies, lies and more lies... but you still haven't deleted this blog, now have you? Because you lied about that as well.

4:53 pm

Blogger Jim Doyle said...

Dictionary.com has the following for assertion: "Something declared or stated positively, often with no support or attempt at proof."

You suggested that Labour was behind the DoS, but said that you could not prove it. You provided reasons to belive Labour was behind the DoS.

You deny that assertion now, so it is debatable. However, I side the Register and agree that an assertion was made.

I have not lied, but mistakenly belived your assertion.

Every time you are challenged to prove I have lied, you drop the accusation and move on to a new one. Prove one lie and I delete this blog.

5:03 pm

Blogger Backing Blair said...

Very well. I repeat...

And you said to our ISP in one of many belligerent emails that: "Backing Blair, a site you host, say that you received a complaint (they think from the Labour Party) that led you to take down their website."We did not think that. And we certainly made it clear to you that we did not think that before you sent this particular email.

One lie. Now delete.

5:09 pm

Blogger Jim Doyle said...

Dictionary.com says a lie is: A false statement deliberately presented as being true; a falsehood.

You had asserted that the complaint came from the Labour Party. I believed you and so the falsehood was not deliberately presented as being true. It cannot have been a lie, unless you can provide evidence that you retracted the assertion that the Labour Party was behind a DoS. I can find no retraction of that assertion.

5:20 pm

Blogger Backing Blair said...

Another lie.

Are we really supposed to swallow that you had absolute belief in a vague ponderance (that we took the precaution of clarifying so it wouldn't be misunderstood) and that belief was so strong that it could not be shaken by clear statements from us that what you believed was false?

And yet - all the while you dance around semantics on your own clearly false statements (presented by you as 'fact').

You have no intentions of honuring your promise to delete this blog at all. You're a malicious, lying troll. Now get lost.

5:33 pm

Blogger Jim Doyle said...

At no time have you withdrawn the assertion that Labour was behind the DoS as you now claim.

You say that my statements are clearly false. However, that is only clear if you are already certain that Backing Blair's assertion that the DoS came from Labour is false.

You say that believing you is unbelievable. I now know that is true.

5:46 pm

Blogger Backing Blair said...

We never made that claim (as you have claimed).

There's no point dicussing this any further. Logic means nothing to you, and this cannot be discussed sensibly while you continue to insist that Jim Doyle is your real name and that you - at any stage - were acting with the intention of supporting Backing Blair.

In short; you're riddle wrapped in a mystery inside a twunt.
